Why Embracing Conscious Progressive Value Still Matters?
Guest article by Rajendra Patel
In today’s business ecosystem, value can no longer be measured purely by revenue or market share. True value stems from conscious choices, progressive thinking, and a commitment to long-term, sustainable impact.
The leaders I admire most are the ones who don’t just adapt to change — they shape it.
Leaders across industries are grappling with one simple but profound question:
How can we deliver measurable ROI while also building a culture that outlasts market cycles?
1. Conscious Leadership
Patagonia (Global) – Yvon Chouinard’s decision to give away ownership of Patagonia to fight climate change set a new benchmark for purpose-led leadership. It didn’t weaken the brand — it strengthened loyalty and global admiration.
Tata Group (India) – For over a century, the Tata Group has prioritised ethics, community development, and nation-building over short-term gains. During COVID-19, Tata Sons pledged ₹1,500 crore for healthcare support — a move that reflected deep societal responsibility while reinforcing trust.
Lesson: Conscious leadership is not a CSR add-on; it’s a long-term brand and trust asset.
2. Progressive Mindset
Microsoft (Global) – Under Satya Nadella, Microsoft pivoted from a stagnant giant to a cloud-first innovator, driven by a “growth mindset” culture. Market value tripled in less than a decade.
Infosys (India) – Infosys embraced digital transformation early, investing in AI, automation, and reskilling its workforce. Its Live Enterprise model has made it more agile, enabling faster adaptation to market shifts and global client demands.
Lesson: Progressive leaders embrace adaptability and continuous learning to stay relevant in fast-changing markets.
3. Measurable Value Creation
Unilever (Global) – Paul Polman’s Sustainable Living Plan embedded environmental and social KPIs into business strategy, proving that sustainability can fuel profitability.
Mahindra Group (India) – Through its “Rise for Good” initiatives, Mahindra has set measurable goals — from becoming carbon neutral to driving electric mobility adoption — while continuing to deliver strong shareholder value.
Lesson: Value creation is sustainable only when it’s measurable, monitored, and tied to strategic priorities.
Why This Still Matters Now?
In an interconnected world, where global reach is no longer optional, the leaders who will define the next decade are those who:
Marry vision with execution.
Build trust across borders and cultures.
Operate with both speed and stewardship.
My Take
From boardrooms in India to conference halls in London and beyond,
I’ve seen one truth hold:
The most impact human or leaders are those who embrace conscious progressive value as their compass. They are not just navigating change — they are shaping it not by validation but what’s needed.
I am super glad that, I stayed true to myself and all the more consistent about my brand voice (i.e. inspiring, authoritative) and brand story (embracing conscious progressive value).
Share your brand story, if you have been working on yourself — your insight might spark the next big shift.
